Busquinox 2007

This was a great event, organized by Adam Narraway and Heather Coulis. It was at the Aspen Cove group camping area of Valens Conservation Area: http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/parks/visit/valens.asp.
We arrived late Friday and enjoyed teriyaki beef strips, sesame oil infused rice noodles, ebi and salmon sushi, and california rolls. We then warmed up around a large fire where our voices, the flames, and the group blood-alcohol levels climbed to the heavens.
Many spent Saturday relaxing by their buses. Vanessa and I went for a pleasant bike ride with the dog on the boardwalk trail. We dined on ham and swiss whole-wheat wraps for lunch and butter chicken and Naan bread for dinner.
The campfire Saturday was a little smaller and in my case was punctuated by frequent trips to the loo. I guess Montezuma's got his revenge.
Sunday we packed up and headed home. All in all it was a pleasant, sunny, relaxing, good natured end to the summer camping season.
Still on deck for this year are our Cape Cod / Vermont trip next week, and the BugPack Fall Tour...

Buses at Da Caves

Labour Day 2007 marked the "Buses at Da Caves" VW camping event at Warsaw Caves, near Peterborough. Warsaw Caves, owned by the Otonabee Conservation Authority, is a great place to check out. The event took place in the Group Camping area, but there are many individual campsites as well. There are hiking trails, caves, kettles, and a river for exploration. Check out http://www.warsawcaves.com/.

Over 30 buses attended this weekend event. We arrived early and got a prime spot near the fire. We chose to leave Ashley at the Kennel, which was a bit disappointing at times, but it did allow us a little more freedom than usual. We spent the weekend biking, caving, hiking, and we even got to ride on Vanessa's boss' 30' Chris-Craft in Clear and Stony Lakes!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend:
